How many calories are in a simit?

Estimate250–387 kcal

per assumed bread ring

Simit is a sesame-coated bread ring. This is a homemade ingredient-input estimate inspired by Turkish simit, not a measured bakery serving or a claim about the protected İzmit recipe.

These are disclosed scenarios, not a confidence interval, measured limits or official brand nutrition.

What is in the simit model?

King Arthur’s Turkish Simit Breads supplies the ingredient types: flour, yeast, sugar, olive oil, salt, molasses water and sesame. Every gram amount below is our assumption. Water adds no energy; baking changes water weight, so these inputs do not establish calories per 100 g of baked bread.

Only count coating that stays on the bread

The sesame and molasses rows represent the amounts actually attached to one ring. Do not count the entire dipping bath or sesame bowl. Flour and oil amounts also mean ingredients retained in the modeled bread, excluding discarded dough or bowl residue.

Does this describe every İzmit simit?

No. Bakery size, flour, coating and technique can differ. The route name does not establish geographic-indication authenticity. We do not substitute a third-party bakery calorie number.

USDA inputs and portion assumptions

Each row uses the stated edible ingredient grams. Rows below apply to the answer-box serving. Endpoints sum unrounded USDA amounts, then round once. A row with alternative records uses the minimum and maximum for each nutrient independently.

Common questions

How many calories are in a simit?

250–387 kcal per assumed bread ring. Simit is a sesame-coated bread ring. This is a homemade ingredient-input estimate inspired by Turkish simit, not a measured bakery serving or a claim about the protected İzmit recipe.

Is this official nutrition data for the finished food?

No. USDA supplies generic ingredient records. The finished-food range is our estimate under the stated portions and recipe assumptions, not a brand or restaurant label. Actual food can fall outside it.

How do I adjust the serving?

Use each matching USDA record’s per-100-g amount × edible grams ÷ 100, then add the ingredients before rounding. Keep raw and cooked weights matched to their respective records; extra sauces and oils need separate entries.
